THE ART OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVID TAN
Nov 10, 730pm

It is well-established today that fashion photography can be art. But how does that happen? How does one move beyond being a competent technician in photography to a photographic artist who is able to present a world of captivating imagined realities? David Tan offers some suggestions on how to create and evaluate a fine art fashion photograph during this talk.

David Tan is a fine art fashion photographer who holds a Master of Law from Harvard, and graduated with first class honours in law from the University of Melbourne. He has published two seminal coffeetable books: “Visions of Beauty” in association with the fashion house of Versace, and more recently a retrospective collection entitled “The First Decade”.He has exhibited in the U.S., Australia and Hong Kong, and has had six solo exhibitions in Singapore.

THE BUSINESS OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALEXANDER OW
Nov 23, 730pm
Singapore Art Museum (Glass Hall)

The state of fashion photography as both a professional and artistic craft in Singapore has been often criticised. How does one move towards a higher quality of commercial work and learn to collaborate with other key partners in fashion photography, including designers, art directors, stylists and hair/make-up artists?

Wizards of Light photographer Alexander Ow will share his experience in these areas. Shooting fashion since the late 1990s, Alexander Ow published his first coffeetable book, “Urban Legend” in 2003 and has exhibited in several group and solo shows.
