Canon A590IS
Tv, Av, M modes for such a cheap cam (but limited to max of f8.0; lowest is 2.6)

Excellent value for money.
Only downside is the flash recharge rate, but I seldom use direct flash anyway.

In the high 200s, 2nd hand fuji f31fd.

This IT show.. most brands are selling models at $200.. i am also looking for one and the Sony W120 caught mine attention.. but it is out of stock since saturday:(

You may want to check out some of the Canon models.
Canon makes pretty decent PnS.
Used to own a Canon Powershot and love it.

I agree. Looking at all options now.

recommendations please. 2nd hand also can.

thanks.

at 200, u can get brand new 7-8 mega pixel units at IT show which ended last sunday.... my sis-in-law got a casio 8 mega pixel at 199 with so much free gifts...

i think get new is better than get old, as new price is lower and better than old ones...
cheers...

PS: i own a canon powershot 570 since 2007... still working nicely...

just a list of what was available for $200 at the recent IT fair,

Canon Powershot A480 $219
Fuji Finepix Z30 $299
Fuji Finepix J150w $279
Fuji Finepix J15 $179
Nikon Coolpix L16 $199
Olympus FE 20 $198
Olympus FE 3000 $241
Olympus u1040 $298
Ricoh R5 $99
Ricoh R50 $229
Sony W120 $199

which would have been okay for an everyday camera using preferably AA and somewhat decent wide angle yet has optical anti shake and gives pretty okay IQ for the money?

to have manual control, $200+ is a bit tough, I feel.
But I know TK selling A720IS at $325, a quite good cam.
Or might consider W120? I never test it before.

I did a research of those models under $200 in IT show and find that W120 has the best IQ.. Ricoh $99 got 7 x optical zoom thus making the ricoh very good buy also.. BUt after the show most of them the price went up already

just an update,

Fuji J15 is $199 +$34 for a normally $59 waterproof casing. Opinions?

was hoping it would use AA batteries though.
