Footdrill.. Help?

Hey guys...
currently in NS and attending a course, and i need to learn the footdrill commands(Argh!) pass out already 1 year ago!....anyway only know how to follow/listen to commands, giving is another story....
so here's what i know so far, help me check if its correct....

stationary drill

open dressing - dalan buka barisan kekanan lurus
close dressing - dalan tutop barisan kekanan lurus
turn back/front - akan menhadap ke(hadapan/blackan) buseng
turn left/right - begerat ke(kenan/kiri) ber tigatiga ke(kenan/kiri) buseng
----i also noe the special case when they facing back----
step(left/right/front...) - (satu/dua/tigga) lanka ke(kiri/kenan....) gerak

marching commands

turn right - kekanan buseng (given on which leg? right?)
turn left - kekiri buseng (left leg?)
salute (left/right/front) - hormat ke keri(kenan...) hormat (all left foot?)
turn around - keblakan buseng (left foot?)
keep left/right - impek kiri/kenan

so far correct?

any more common commands i missed out?

also i dun understand why sometimes you say dari keri sometimes dari kenan sometimes dun say?

basically i juz corrected yer spelling, juz to help out on the pronounciation. the pronounciation should be juz as how its spelled. cant help u out on the orders tho. sorry bout dat, POP long time ago
 

No offence to our malay friends, but sometimes I wish our SAF can adopt english for their commands. Instantly understood by all. For non-malay like me, I usually have to associate certain strings of words with certain movements, and up to now, I still don't really know what the command actually meant. Sometimes it is like monkey see monkey do.

I guess it is our historical background that maintain the use of malay language commands in SAF.
 

well.. i have no problems in my commands ? and i am a chinese ? and english educated ?

i find it ok.. it depends. if u have the heart to remember them.i think they are ok. now if commands is in english i find them weird la..

it shd be akan merhadap ke (hadapan/blakang), ke (kiri/kanan) pu sing

salute (left/right) - hormat ke kiri/kanan, hormat (all given on left foot and execute salute while marching, timing check 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and cut down)
salute front - hormat ke hadapan, hormat (given on left foot, timing check 1 bang, salute twice then turn 180 degree and continue to march off)
turn around - kebelakang pusing (given on left foot, timing check T, L, V, bang)
keep left/right - impek kiri/kanan
 

You passed out an year ago and u dun understand what dari kenan and dari kiri means? How did u manage to pass out in the first place??

dari kenan means take dressing from left, while dari kiri means take dressing from the right...

btw, i ord long time ago..

Nombor kenci satu langka ke hadapan, nombor genap satu langka ke belangkan (same... paras or gerak?)

Nombor Kanci ke kanan, Nombor genap ke kiri, barisan ke kanan dan kiri pu-Sing!

Dalam tiga barisan cepat ja-lan!

I think you mixed up your kiri with kanan...

dari kenan means take dressing from RIGHT, while dari kiri means take dressing from the LEFT...

Orang yang di sebelah kanan diam! Barisan hadapan kanan pusing, Barisan Belakang Kiri pusing, kanan dan kiri pusing.
-rightmost man still. Front rank right turn, rear rank left turn, left&right turn.

Jadikan, tiga barisan, chepat jalan!
-form 3 ranks, march.

Akan menghadap IIRC is used for the section/squad to take reference from where they are facing relative to the commander AFTER execution of the command.

i.e Akan menghadap Ke-hadapan, Ka-belakang pusing!
-squad will face the front, about turn.(When squad is facing away from commander initially)

You still NS rite? The best person to help you is your RSM. I'm sure he will be glad to teach you the vocal commands, he might even give you a drill on the parade sq. :sweatsm:

Wah lao, he not my godfather leh, i dun know and dun wanna know! :bsmilie: He already SWO liao, can't go much further i guess but he is not very old, i think 40 plus only.

Hmmm...............btw, how you know i know him? You work under him before?
 

I totally agree, no idea why we are still stuck in the old days. Such is the bureaucratic inertia of the system.

we had a private talk session with SWO Jeffery. so he was sharing all this handsome photos with us. told us wad our WO's did for their trainings, and tell us our WO's secrets. like wad they did when they were trainees, and who reported sick for what reasons and surprising he has realli good memories..
