Hi,

I am new in photography.
This is my first post.
I have a problem here which I would like to seek some advice and hope that someone is able to enlighten me.

Equipment:
I have just purchase a Nikon D60.
Recently I have just purchase a Nikon 50mm F1.8 (this lens is Manual with my Camera)

Situation:
Been taking picture in Bright Lit Place is no problem.
Then I try to take a few shot of my Baby in poor lighting then problem come.
As the surrounding is poorly Lighted and I was on the move, I not sure is my focus point is out or was it due to my shaking hand that cause the picture to be blurry.
Is there any test or way to find out?

Pardon me if my question is noob...As I mention, I am new.

Post some samples with the complete EXIF data, and then we can diagnose the problem for you.
As some would say, NPNT (no picture, no talk). :)

Is it only me? I can't see the photo.

The image link doesn't work, requires user to login before viewing is possible.
Anyways, light plays a big part in limiting the shutter speed you could use, i would say anything slower that 1/30, there will be a high chance of handshake blur. Even in cases when flash was used at shutter speeds of 1/60, you can still get blury images due to handshake or subject motion. There is also a possibility of being off-focus if you shoot with the aperture wide open. Best to get the image up for assessment of the root cause. :)

Hi Guys,

thank you for so fast respond....How do I upload picture here?

Hi Guys,

Hope you all are able to view the picture from the link.

the photo u shown, seems to be a focus issue.
a little tip when manual focusing, look thru ur view finder, u see a little green dot on the bottom left, it lights up when ur subject is in focus.
Also, in poorly lit areas, a lower shutter speed might result in motion or hand shake blurs.

Hi Guys,

Hope you all are able to view the picture from the link.

Do you have the EXIF?

Without EXIF I can only guess it is camera shake. Reason : I don't see anything sharp and the light looks really low.

Hmmm......didnt notice the green light in my D60....good idea...I go back home and try. Thanks a million.
Nearly made a expensive stupid mistake to buy a new lens Sigma 30mm F1.4 which can auto focus on my Camera.

i suppose hand shake..

Where can I get the EXIF info?
I only know I set my Camera to 'A' Mode with F @ 1.8.
Is the above information enough?

Wah....Is that my EXIF info?? How did you get it? LOL....Please advice as I am indeed very noob

this is another picture...I think the focus is on the pram left handle. But also the handle is not very clear....so dont know is it shake or focus problem.

Shutter speed : 1/6 - almost certainly camera shake. Not to say there's no misfocus as well, but I think you need to bump up your ISO for a faster shutter speed. You should also be aware that at f/1.8 your depth of field (region where you have acceptable focus) is going to be extremely thin. You're also beyond the rule of thumb of 1/10 sec where a person can keep still enough for a sharp photo.

When you click on the image to bring up the full sized image, EXIF is embedded in that. (I should have realized that - paiseh)

To view the EXIF if you're running firefox : http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=407305

Why is buying the Sigma 30 f/1.4 a stupid mistake if it can autofocus on your camera? I do not understand your reasoning.

obviously is caused by handshake due to slow shutter speed (see red).

I nearly spend money on buying that lens but after some thought, it might not even due to the 'Focus' problem. So without finding out the real problem and anyhow spend the money on things that i 'think' will solve the problem, that I find is stupid.
