Focus lock

hi, i am using the canon 350D and is not sure whether i am doing it correctly. just want to confirm....how do you focus lock and recompose a shot?

The instruction booklet said that you shoot press the shutter halfway down, hear the beep(focused!), then recompose.

If you have the focusing 'auto' readjust, you may have been in the AI servo or AI Focus mode.

Altertively you can change the custom functions of your shutter/* button and have the AF start only when you npress the * buton and use the shutter rlease as a AE start...
