Must flash be kept in a drycabinet/drybox?

Just curious, mould and fungus will appear on it?

While there is a optical element, there is no requirement to place the flash inside a dry box. But if you have spare room, it's ok to do so.

Just remember to remove the batteries if you are keeping the flash for long.

yeah, like what zac08 have said, there's not a need unless there is a optical element.

Thanks for the reply? What about batteries?

Most impt is only the lens n body, right?

No need...

The lenses and camera body is the main thing to note....

Yeap, and regarding batteries, zac08 did also state quite clearly...

As a general rule of thumb, remove batteries from anything you are putting into your dry cabinet, including the camera.

Agree with the above.

I doubt the fungus is able to grow at all with those high intense flash. :D

even if it does i dont think the effect will be as prominent as with a camera or lens

I do keep my flash and batteries inside the dry cabinet, not so much about the optical element in the flash, but is to keep all the contact point from oxidized.

anyway, I can't put all my flash units inside the cabinet, since it already full house, so I need to check and clean the contact points of all my Metz hammer heads before I use them.

Remove batteries to prevent leaking or a dry environment bad for batteries generally?
