Hi seniors and sempais,

I am a newbie who recently bought a flash. Prior to that I have been shooting with available lighting.

I have searched this forum for Flash tutorial but not able to find it (not indicative of it's existence, but that I can't find).

Would the seniors and sempais have any tips, tricks and hints to suggest for good flash photography?

I am interested in using it to shoot portraits of people (probably with 50mm F1.8 )

I am using single flash (non strobist array) and am on the most basic type of flash, power-on,power-off,auto-TTL and 6 stops of flash. no flash zoom...

Thank you for your help in advance, I am here to learn and look forward to your advice

Yeah, start reading here:

Strobist

Which camera body and flash are you using? Because different brand systems implement flash a little differently...

Thanks senior Rashkae and daredevil123

I am using a very humble setup : Canon 500D + Yongnuo Speedlite 465 , 50mm F1.8 (i think almost the lowest end of DSLR spectrum ;)

Not sure about YongNuo... but the following is a good start for Canon's E-TTL...

The EOS Flash Bible
