flash help....need to know how many and what modifier so can buy one

hie, wanna as how to get this effect?? i know we have one flash behind with no diffuser, but duno how come the front also nicely exposed? in this case should we expose the environment or the front of the face?? or there is also a flash in front?? maybe with softbox??

Just natural lighting, maybe add a reflector. If there was no natural lighting available, one big softbox and a reflector will do it.

Agreed. Looks like the sun as a rimlight and a reflector as fill (maybe). hard to tell from the catchlights.

or try natural lighting / CR lighting with spot metering on the girl . (use AE lock). Spot metering does do amazing blown out stuff.

I am not a pro and just a newbie so i am sure the sempais, seniors and pros will surely have even better analysis.
 

This is probably just one flash for the rim light no modifier and a reflector the the front..
 

Hard to say but probably possible with a few ways :

1. Flash behind, camera exposed for subject
2. Flash behind, reflector on the front (or fill flash, be it bounced, shoot thru or softbox)
3. Natural light and reflector as others have suggested
