Five Eyes

yawnz...

old news.

it's either you didn't realize that this was happening, until someone had to tell you.

the world's just in shock because it's been leaked out.

end of story. time to sleep :)

It's as surprising as the previously leaked diplomatic notes, revealing LKY's opinion about MY. I would be surprised it it were not this way.

Hard Truth.... EVERYBODY SPIED ON EVERYBODY....

Just hope we didn't tap into the personal phone of prime minister Najib and/or family member...

Or Anwar and his 'aide'
You might get stabbed from the back :bsmilie:

HARD TRUTH ALSO: there are elements in our neighbors waiting to score points or has an axe to grind with us. And this is a godsend that they will exploit fully to embarrass their own government as well as ours.

Thats a fact of life for every nation... If S'pore really did something that is out of international norm... then its high time the Govt explain itself...

Don't worry, our gov has the experience. Last time some senior said something wrong. Our gov did a good job in apologizing. Shdn't be a problem apologizing on behalf of the jr. in near future if it's proven.

As the idiom goes that espionage is the world's second oldest profession. Unbeknown to the larger public, we do have some of the best ELINT / SIGINT gathering capabilities in the region rivalling that of China and Japan, just a little something (along with many others) that we picked up along the way from the generous assistance of the Israeli intelligence community throughout the decades since our independence.

With the majority of the world's submarine communications cables routed through us together with numerous antenna farms including three major satellite earth stations receiving and transmitting thousands of petabits of information every single day and this kind of just enable clandestine interception to be implemented relatively easy.

IIRC, the RSAF even flew ELINT / SIGINT reconnaissance and surveillance ("Tron Sniffing") sorties with a modified variant of our Lockheed Martin C-130H Hercules fitted with classified modular payload and Fokker 50 "Enforcer Mk. II" Maritime Patrol (MPA) / Utility (UTA) aircraft much akin to the USAF Lockheed Martin EC-130H Compass Call on a regular basis throughout the region, identifying and mapping electronic signature emissions so as to better generate a better picture pertaining to an electronic order of battle (orbat)of any possible potential adversary(s).

All in all, what we are doing might just make AUSCANNZUKUS ECHELON seems like a a walk in the park.

It's like a man patronizing the world's oldest profession lor: DON'T GET CAUGHT. If caught by wife, worse by the law if one happens to patronize one that is below the legal age, then expect hell lor.

But seriously I still don't get how the girl can still remember hundreds of clients in months back.. they keep records or what :dunno:

Yea :bsmilie: we do.

Welcome back. It's been a while

For those interested in submarine warfare and espionage, a good read to pick up would be "Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage". Rather interesting details in it especially how the USS Halibut (SSN-587) installed a wire tapping device around a submarine communications cable in the Sea of Okhotsk right under the Ruskies' noses during Operation Ivy Bells in 1971. Such wire tapping devices as installed by purposedly modified special operations naval platforms such as the USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23) are now powered with Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (RTG).

Rumour as it that in the '70s with the Cold War at its climax. A submerged Russian Boomer on transit passage through the Singapore Strait surfaced right smack in Keppel Harbour literally within throwing distance of the Brani Naval Base and promptly start raising the hammer and sickle, this eventually prompted the top brass in the navy at the time to emphasise on developing capabilities for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) even though no one in the region will be acquiring such assets for some time (decades) to come.
