First Birdie Shot..comment please

Hi,
Just got the 70-300 IS
wanted to try out this glass very bad
Me wife took this shot handheld while i was driving back home..
kindly improve us(wife and me)...
we are very new to photography and this is our first try on birds...

this is about 70% crop of the original image
ps done on levels and lightening the shadows by 2%

hi fusiller,

not bad for a first attempt, especially if it was shot from a moving vehicle. IMHO the subject could be sharper, perhaps you can try shooting the bird while you are stationary. the background is nicely blurred , but the composition is a tad bland. the rule of thirds could be applied here i feel.

at last some comments..

coming to think of it the composition does look a bit weird hmmm maybe i would try to pp it again and see how it turns out..thanks for taking your time to critique on this pic..
