Hi guys,

just wanna check with you guys who have been there, would scaling Sheares Bridge be worth the effort to get a good view of the fireworks? And perhaps catch a few decent shots?

You need a really wide angle lens. At least 18mm or less is better...on a 1.5x/1.6x crop factor body. Coz the fireworks would be fired quite close to the bridge.

Yes, wide angle lens is needed and also from the bridge, it's like viewing the fireworks sideway....just like you watch a play or concert and have to sit at the side of the auditorium. Something like that lah...

woah that wide

I'm using a G2 stock setup.....

So its better to take from Esplanade area?

esplanade is a better view... but the best view of the fireworks is from merlion/ one fullerton side, as that is where the fireworks are designed to be displayed to.. only problem shooting from there is no skyline in the background.

And on Tue, a lot of smoke as the wind was blowing inland. If you look at all the pictures from that night, all the nice views are from the reverse angle.
