hi. i'm a newbie in photography, and would like to ask whether it is worth it to buy those macro with wide angle filters that you attach to the lens? i went to simlim in singapore and the sales person was trying to convince me to get this seinzeiser macro for $S100. is this worth it? thanks!

We have guides about this, and you can search. Heavily discussed. NEVER worth it, total waste of money. It's a scam.

These things are usually priced at $40-50 when the sales persons are not trying to con you. No, not worth your time at all.

I always, I don't believe in using UV or clear filter, then they will shutup.

He's talking about the infamous macro/wide angle converters.

The only filter I consider for macro is the raynox.

If you are just trying out macro, Raynox is something you can experiment. However, nothing beats a proper macro lens.

ditto that ..... also Hoya makes a couple of these filters too

DO NOT pay $100 for these ....... reputable shops sell them $30 to 40 only

Otherwise look in the Buy and Sell for a 2nd hand set OR search the vshops here among the online advertisers for an honest price
