Filter - is the glass meant to be removable?

Just received my kenko UV filter and there's a metal band that separates from the filter, I can't seem to push it in place and the whole thing seems loose. Is it meant to be like that?

Sorry if that doesn't sound clear, there a thin circular metal band that came off the filter. It looks like it was there to hold the glass in place. This band is not completely circular as there is a gap of about 1.5mm? Well I managed to clip it into the filter but is this ring meant to be on the inside face the lens or on the other side?

I'm a bit worried because the glass does feel kind of loose if I press on it and the thin circular band seems kind of cheap.

no, seems like the spring is loose. bring it back to where you got it from.

My kenko filter is in one piece, no moveable parts

Yeah I've got a Kenko CPL and that's solid, this one is just a regular UV filter from ebay.

Here's a picture:

The gap is in the top left side and spring is on the inside of the filter.

yes, that is how the glass piece install into the filter ring, the glass suppose to be sit tight with the fastening band held it in place.

this band is just a spring, not a compete circle.

Ah thanks for that, I was concerned that the spring might pop out and scratch the lens. Still, what do you think of this?
