I am more concern with those third world / undeveloped countries.student said:Anything less than ISO 400 will not suffer from repeated "x-ray" examinations by the airport machines.

hondasleeper said:Just FYI, each time you run your film through the x-ray machine it is being exposed to the gamma rays. If you only run it through once that is fine. How many times are they going to x-ray your film through out your trip? Once leaving Singapore, possibly on arrival at your destination(?), another time departing from you destination, again possibly one more time upon arrival?,...etc.
I hope you see what I am trying to get at? Just tell the airport to hand check the film, you are a professional photographer shooting on assignment, insist on it.
It is just like exposing film, underexposing the film, 10 x, eventually it will all add up.
student said:I had my films, both roll and sheet films (B&W - like TriX) x-rayed more than 10 times in my last trip to Europe. I did not see any problem with my negatives. If the x-rays caused some problem, it is, to my mind, of no conseuqence. And I am not talking about a paltry number of films.
If you want to insist on hand check, prepare
1 To be public enemy #1 to those fellow passengers behind you.
2 To be rudely told off my the airport staff.

I see your point, and as I have said, that might have been an exception rather than the rule. But then again, I wouldn't want to take that kind of chance if I was travelling on a job only to have the film ruined by x-ray. I wouldn't know how to explain that to my client, potentially lose the client asked to pay for all costs to have it reshot, not to mention the nightmare it would be to reschedule to have it redone. I think "caution would be the better part of valor".
That's just my 2 cents.
