Film can last ages if stored in a freezer?

Hi all, I came across an advise from people that if you store your newly purchase slide films in a freezer it will last ages. Is this true or not.:dunno: Anyone has any knowledge on this?

This means that even though the expiry date had already long expired, the slide film still usable, in good condition?
