I was given an opportunity to give this baby a non scientific field test, this will be an ongoing thread that will go on as i discover more.

An amazing little camera that i know i will enjoy testing

First the Hi ISO noise test

This scene is only lit by an incandescent bulb, you can find it in chinatown

the full shot

and the 100% crops at different ISO Speeds

at ISO6400 you can see a visible blue cast

you will notice a loss of shadow details too, but mind you this is at ISO6400 on a compact camera

these next shots were taken in a indoors with artificial lights

100% crops at different ISO Speeds

using manual exposure i tested the built-in ND filter, exposure remains unchanged to show what effect turning on the ND does

this gives you about -2 stops, useful if you want to slow down the exposure.

I did a field test for the p7000 too, i try to use the same scene for the iso tests so you can compare. But I cannot guarantee total fairness as the light bulb may have changed

there is a Macro mode

and a super macro

this camera comes with a fast f1.8 max aperture lens which allows it to create less DOF if you want to

so far so good, i am impressed by what this camera can do
but it is not a DSLR, so your expectations must be adjusted as such

went spider hunting today armed with only this camera, tripod and a reflector and this is what i managed to shoot

btw these are full images, not cropped just resize and a little USM
