hello,

i am thinking of getting a pentax dslr but is concern about the customer support offered. i have heard some negative comments so i like to find out from pentax users if they are valid. i guess customer support is quite important before i commit into the system. any comments? thanks

I got my iRiver mp3 player fixed there on the spot once (J&J is also the agent of iRivers). Service is pretty good. Never fix any lens/cam over there though.

It is a big trading international company
Agency for products come and go
They are into many things
Photo product is just a very small part of operations
Maybe ordinary customer patronage is not critical to them

The company is so big. Different product lines may have different levels of service since the staff handling it are another group.

My two friends had bad experiences. (Rollei medium format cameras)
Anyway it is second hand info and hearsay.

What l-n_h can do is splurge the $ on pentax dlsr and .....
if the agent service is good, then yippee good for him.

If agent service is bad, then write $ off as a bad dream.
put the episode into his mental folder under the title "PAY TO LEARN"

It is an interesting experiment and in this case, l_n_h is footing the bill for the experiment.
 

er..... dun think i want to spend thousand plus dollars to learn a lesson :)
 

Hmm, but having all of that said, i've not experienced any major show-stopping problem with my *istDS yet, and i've not heard of any other *istDS owner here having problems with their camera.
 

actually l-n-h is not saying he got problem with pentax camera
he is just worried about agent service and support.
 

Hehe, well, if your camera doesn't have any problems, why worry about the agent's support? :)
