Do you think the image quality of the F11 and S9500 at natural light mode produces similar quality pictures at high ISO? Or is the F11 better?

Anybody owns both or has tested both before please comment.

F11 or F10 is better

doesn't really sounds logical, since the S9500 is Fuji's "better" camera of the two.
maybe the in-camera processing is stronger on the F11 or F10, so images looks more pleasing directly out of the camera?

Because the sensor of the F11 is better than the sensor found on the S9000, just that the S9000 has better features.

S9500 is 9MP on 1/1.6" Super CCD HR
F11 is 6MP on 1/1.7" Super CCD HR
In term of sensor density, S9500 has higher MP/sensor area than F11, so it's likely that S9500 have higher noise than F11 at high ISO setting.

But if you resize a 9MP photo to 6MP photo, S9500 may have advantage over F11 :dunno: .

the only way is a side by side test. anyone here owns the S9500?

You guys must not forget about the lens.
I have a butt-feeling that the S9500 has better lens than the tiny F11/F10?

I am quite sure the lens on the S9500 is actually poorer. It has such a long range, and quality qould definitely be compromised to an extent. The very soft corners of pictures of the S9500 proves this. The 3X lens on the F11 should be more trustworthy since Fujifilm started making 3X zoom lens very soon after the inception of digital.

i actually suspect they re-use the same lens module model after models.. very cost effective

Yeah I guess so too, just some minor tweaking here and there. And also guaranteed quality since so much 'experience'.

But I think that this year, with cameras with 6 megapixels on 1/2.5' sensors, the lens might not be high resolving enough. And they'll need new glass elements. Just a wild guess.

Can anyone give us comparative shots?

i am using F10 and used to own s9500.

i am impressed by the ISO1600 quality produce by F10, then i think s9500 should have the same quality. i am totally wrong. the iso1600 in s9500 is unacceptable. after 1 month, i sold my camera and upgrade to D70s.

philipcs, how many people will shot at ISO1600? Bear in mind that s9500 is a fixed lens high end digital camera. Have you consider other cameras of this class that can shot at ISO1600? I am aware that there is always comparison on the picture quality between F10 and s9500 at ISO1600. Maybe, just maybe that Fuji have done that purposely. Just like the hotshoe is not TTL capable. They may not want to 'spoilt' the market and cross into the realm of dSLR just yet.

By the way, I've shot a few pix at Snow.Wolf.Lake musical at ISO800. I posted it here some time back. The pix look soft from the screen. To some, it may seems like lost of details. You should see it in print (without post-processing). The quality was exceptionally sharp and detailed.:)

no doubt about the F11's low noise ability in high ISO. the F11 wins hands down in this area compared to S9500. but have u done any compare and contrast between the 2 cameras in other areas before? pls consider the rough comparisons below(pls correct me if wrong)

F11
-------------------
6MP
36mm(WA)
108mm(Tele)
F/2.8-F/8
shutter 3s-1/2000
2.5", 150k LCD
Single AF
ISO 80-1600
A, S, P
JPEG
1.3fps(40 frames)

S9500
---------------------
9MP
28mm(WA)
300mm(Tele)
F/2.8-F/11
Shutter 30s-1/4000
1.8", 116k LCD
Single/Continuous AF
ISO 80-1600
A, S, P, M
JPEG, RAW
1.1fps(40 frames)
ext. flash
EVF

im not sure about the price of F11, but looking at the specs, i assume its about 500-600 range (pls correct me if im wrong). with a price difference of about 250-350, i would say the s9500 is more value for money in terms of specs. if u sold ur S9500 just becos of higher noise level at ISO 1600 than F11, i think it might be a bit rash. i think both are good cameras with different uses and targeted at different people.

Both of the F11 and S9500 are a different class of camera.
F11 is a compact camera that you can carry around.
Take pictures anytime when you feel like it.:)
