bring the wide-angle to capture atmosphere shots. u would need an f2.8 tele to capture the cars....even so the shutter speed was still too low sometimes...
You'd need shutter speeds of at least 1/1000s, and you'll need reach to blur out the wire mesh, and also a large aperture to achieve that kind of shutter speeds.
As much as they say it, the lights are NOT as bright as daylight. Gunbucker (whose post I've linked to above) shot at ISO 1600.
Honestly, I doubt you'd be getting very good images with either lens. You can try, but I feel that more than that, you should just go and enjoy the race, atmosphere and all.

I used my A100 with Beercan (70-210f4) with some setting F5.6, 1/40 :sweat: and I think can still get some good tries.
