"Singapore was suddenly more than just an airport to fly to or from somewhere. Now they believe they have reached their goal and they do not want a grand prix any more."
Say until like that means quite confirm off liow. Anyway, good riddance. We can always have the concerts and stuff independently. F1 is just so non-green.

Why get so worked up?:)You know this govt. is a practical and profit oriented one. After 10 years
it's no longer attractive in terms of tourism nor economical to sustain (anyway malaysia has the electric F1);)

Fact is tourists from China are not F1 fans.:D You should be more surprised to notice that OKto channel is airing sports programs almost daily and the cultural and arts are cut( could be these programs are expensive to acquire) so now it's soccer, martial arts promoting upcoming events(advertising) and F1 how ironic.Critics will describe this as the dumbing down of the population what with economic outlook not rosy as the govt. has hinted that it will now offer targeted help for affected sectors of industry in the down turn. Basically our media is very manupilative in this regard.Just take a look at the "travago" ad which is in your face for a long time.:what:

Most likely a negotiation tactic... F1 wants more $$$... Singapore refuse... we will not end up with a white elephant race track if no more F1.... so, SG isn't too concern. Beside... isn't there lots of S'porean out there complaining yearly about F1.... from traffic issue to shopkeepers at and around Suntec complaining of business slowdown...

So, like usual... Some happy... Some not happy... :bsmilie:

Every man-made attraction has its halftime. F1 on an artificial race track without any background in tradition is no exception.
It was only a matter of time since the concept does not get revamped with new ideas.

YEAHHHH ! ! !

Good riddance !
No more noise pollution.
No more air pollution.
No more wastage of precious fuel.
No more inconvenience or loss of business to shopping malls.
No more wastage of money, resource and manpower to setup and then dismantle after the race.
Race outcome and winner are predictable and questionable too !

:vhappy:

The Singapore F1 is just one huge advertisement campaign for Singapore and a business sale for Ecclestone. After nearly 10 years, the law of diminishing returns has caught up and the exposure cannot justify the cost. Singapore Inc. will be on the look out for new ventures.

Ecclestone is unhappy now that F1 is loosing it venues. He is more worried that his income and investment will take a hit. To the spectators, F1 is a sport. To Ecclestone and the venue owners, it is a business. So ROI is more important than passion.

-------------

Liberty Media (USA) has bought (07.09.2016) a share of 18.7 percent (746 Mill. US$) from Formula1- Holding.
In the first quarter of 2017, LM will buy additional shares and then have 100 percent of the voting rights.

The new strong man of F1 is Chase Carey of Liberty Media.

Eccelstone is soon history

Wait till the confirmation.

They still make money but not as much.. so is it still viable?

Many data are collected from measuring the use of tyre from wear and tear and to the type of materials used.
The surface of the road the use of fuel and the type of engine etc etc etc... it is not the race only there are many more other things which will eventually benefit mankind.

The F1 Race must be run in a win-win situation.

Every parties are trying to squeeze each other. F1 will loose a lot without Singapore Night Race.

Many business transactions are done thru the F1 season in Singapore.

So why would a country that must curb auto use support such an extravagant pony show anyways? Surely there is not that much money in it? Seems to me it is like a poke in the eye to you bros but what do I know...

Singapore has evolved bros...those kind of events are no longer needed...the little red dot is on the map compliments of the pioneers. Now is the time to take it to a new level. :)

What mankind? I see no humanity

We need a world class red light district like De Wallen in Amsterdam. :bsmilie:

Poor F1 boys and girls...:nono:

I don't think a street of happiness would go over very well in SG for some reason.

I believe Gelyang thrives during F1. It provides relief for many!
