Hi,
Encountered this only recently.
When in M mode, F becomes '--'. No Fstops number.
When I turn the dial, F stop did not change, remain at '--'.
If press shutter, the picture shows F1.

It resumes normal after a while...dunno what did I pressed...

Anyone can help here? :dunno:
Thanks

just a guess: maybe no memory card or lens not mounted properly

Memory card was inserted. Cos I still can download and view the pic taken with 'F1'...
Lens not mounted? But doesn't that mean shutter cannot be pressed then?

Pls provide more details. Which cam body and lens were you using?

If you're using manual lenses - the aperture cannot be recognized on your digital camera. If you cannot shoot after fixing the manual lenses - you have to find the setting inside the camera that allows you to shoot using manual aperture setting, ie. by hand.

For Pentax, the setting is found under "Menu > Custom Settings > Using Aperture Ring > Permitted"

Can't help you if you have other brands but should be similar. :dunno:

Even then the F number will show as F-- but at least it works; which is most important. :)

Strange, this problem is rarely encountered when you mount kit lens on the body. :dunno:
I've encountered this when I used an OM lens on my 4/3 body in the past..

Oh...based on your reply and Raskae's, then it seems to be the mounting....
Will wipe down and observe further. Thanks
