eyesight problem - prebyopia

Hi,

I bought a Olympus EPL-1 recently. Nothing wrong with the cam, just that I find it difficult to use due to my eyesight problem. I am 45. Find it difficult to see the object clearly on the lcd screen. Therefore cannot compose the picture well. I tried the eView Finder, but don't quite like it.
A bit regret getting the EPL1. Should have gotten a regular DSLR like Canon 550D or Nikon D5000.
Any advise from experts here ?

Agreeing with you whole-heartedly, I must say that it is now difficult for many of us to comfortably view any LCD screen without reading glasses.
And perhaps that is why the luxury of using micro4/3 or any camera without viewfinders has escaped those of us afflicted with presbyopia.

Even with a DSLR, chimping of images on the LCD has proven to be a chore.
Honestly, you have little choice but to live with it.
And like me, I have many pairs of Old Flower 老花 reading glasses to make life a little easier:bsmilie:.

I started with Lumix GF-1 m4/3 without viewfinder Nov last year and 3 months later replaced it with a cheaper Lumix G-1 m4/3 with integral viewfinder and LCD. The viewfinder has diopic adjuster just like any dSLR camera so I have no problem with my presbyopia. I'm 65. Of course without reading glasses, its a hassle not only with looking at the LCD but also the control buttons and push buttons!
I will be visiting an eye specialist in Gleneagle Hospital next week to assess and work out the cost to do the latest presbyopia laser treatment called IntraCor. The procedure will not involve any laser incision (cutting) and can be completed in half an hour. The doctor told me that just doing one eye will cure the presbyopia and I can throw away all my reading glasses!!The cost is $2,800.00 per eye. Well, if it can do its job, I may just go ahead and consider that I have bought a lens for my cam!! Ha-Ha:bsmilie:

Me too with presbyopia, and had difficult with LCD. It's totally blur especially underwater.

Yes, IntraCor is quite new. If I do go ahead and only if it is good after a period of time, then I shall post a thread in CS to inform all members who suffer from presbyopia.

Think in the meantime I will have to bring along my reading glasses when going for shooting.

Think positive. In the old days, photographer never get to see any picture before the film was developed and the photo printed.
