Hi, is nice to see passionate people organize this event again. who is the judge this year?
and the judging criteria ? thanks

Thank you. We have not determined the judges at this point of time but it will be a group of professionals from the photography and film circle, news media and social workers.

Bear in mind this is not a photography competition so we are not looking for pretty photos with superb technical quality. It can be pictures relating to events that happen in the year, or subjects close to the photographer that can tell a story.

alamak, everytime see this event means i getting another year older:bigeyes::bigeyes:

Just to check does anyone know what is the size for digital submission? :embrass:

I only remember it is 300dpi.

Yup, please have the images at 300dpi, set the size good for at least 8R print. jpg and tiff files recommended but NO raw files.

For digital users, remember to convert the images to B&W and save it in a cd-rom prior to submission.

Just a question, for the film users, do we need to purchase the film? and will we be getting the negative back?

Film users will get a roll of B&W film from us. However this year we have limited stock, do come down early for registration. Negatives will be returned during/after the exhibition targeted in middle of next year.

Limited rolls of film? Like how many you guys prepared in hand?

We are still negotiating with the sponsor on the quantity of B&W films.

The committee just had a discussion on the submission mode, please save the images in jpg without compression, we don't encourage tiff files because it will slow down the administration and viewing process.

Good question! :p

We had been following the tradition since the event started eight years ago here and slightly more in Penang. B&W has always been associated with photojournalism which is the nature of the event. Another factor involved is also the cost of printing for the book, it will cost a lot higher in colour which is not possible with our limited funds.

Tml registeration starts liao!:bsmilie:

1more day to go!:bsmilie:

Jia You Eye shooters!

for digital, can register on submission day @ 1Jan?

Yup, no problem. We have two briefing sessions at 8pm and 9pm tomorrow, so for those who are first timer or would like to know more about the event, do come down for a casual chi chat. :)
