Thanks Ryan!

When I was a kid, I always wanted to lord over the animals. Having a few mutts running around the house reinforced that mindset. And then a new master, the cats came along.
This has nothing to do with them.

I tried it on a pigeon the other day.

I think he did turn back to look at you just as he got to the corner...haha

Memories of childhood returned while out exploring our back lanes with a friend. Much of it spent playing in the backlanes and narrow staircases. Much have changed, the shopfronts are gentrified, now populated by F&B outlets serving artisanal coffee and bread, boutique hotels, spas.
But at night, behind these shops, the backlanes come alive.

Jeff, it is a she. Haha.

You got an imagination.

A photograph has the ability to convey emotion, mood, narrative, ideas and messages – all of which are important elements of story telling. But a photographer should think about what will he photo and what story it will be. Something like that:)

It,s that time of the year where things start to get interesting.
It,s the 48hr short film making season.
Which means my friend Tahchoe and I will have to come up with a story , direct, film, edit and act too! Fortunately on top of all that Tahchoe also has a solid music background, he is also our sound editor. Me, i just make the noise he wants.
The theme, genre will be drawn tomorrow night at Scape starting 7.30pm.
In other words we are a all in one team.
This time round we may need more actors given that the theme is a total unknown(that makes it more fun).
If there is any one out there who is keen to act please send me your contact. Please include your compensation rate. I think I can't use paid pro actors( not that we have the MediaCorp budget or aware of costs of actors) If curious, PM or look me up at Scape to get a feel of the atmosphere. No comittment. The filming will be on Saturday if we can come up with a story by fri night.

Hi Stephen, gonna need more than imagination here.
Hi Andy21, something like that but most of the time it is a response to what's in front of me. Nothing i can plan.

It's a wrap!
We(Team GT of Tahchoe and myself)) came up with a story for our choosen theme of "Dark Comedy" or "Film De Femme". Film de what???
Here are the 3 elements that must be included.
1.Character:Chris or Chrissy who is a social media influencer.
2.Prop:used tea bag.
And lastly,
3. dialog line:"I am not who you think I am"!"
Immediately after the kickoff, we headed back to my house to stage our scene. We decided on a indoor location to stage our scene. Some semblance of a story was crafted in the car on way back.
The stage was set. Now to let the scenes develop in dreamland.
The next morning more work to decorate the stage. Brought in more props. Artwork of nude courtesy of Tahchoe's artist friend, Elaine Wijaya titled iloveyoupleasedontleaveme 80×80cm , acrylic on wood.
The idea of a bird came about as we went out to pick up the artwork and actress.
The bird eventually developed from a prop, b roll subject to a significant part of the short film during our edit.
We had 5hrs of Grace Ho's time, a friend of Tahchoe who had never acted before.
We made the best of the 5 hrs of her time to complete the shoot involving her.
After the initial hesitations, she was our saving grace as the actress in her surfaced.
In making this short film, our story, dialog, action constantly evolved even as we were shooting.
What's was left was b rolls for transition and an initial edit. That night while I slept, Tahchoe was on overdrive as he plowed on, adding transitions to the edit to bring the story together. The first edit was up by the next day.
Tomorrow he will have another long day doing the soundscape.

Looking forward to it. I know these shorts bring you joy. :)

You bet, Jeff!
I am now addicted to this 48hr film making thingy!

Last Saturday was the premiere for all participants at Scape.
We got to enjoy all the entries. 20 over short films of various genres were made. Our 5 minute of fame!
Just glad we did not pick some of the genres. But regardless of genre, everyone had loads of fun making their film.
Thanks to my friend Tahchoe's aesthetic home decor skill and our play with lighting, we got the Best Production Design!

Ready,Lights, Actions!

During the Muslim month of Ramadan, the void deck of our HDB becomes a temporary place of worship. After breaking fast at home many gather here for their prayers. The ladies are separated from the men by a partition.

Hello Friend, Time for more photos from you.

These plank art by unknown artists who are residents or friends of west coast had been popping up around my neighborhood. Last night I decided to have a closer look at these ringing the fences of a school at Clementi West Street 2.
They look like sentinels standing guard, coming to life when no one notices.

Team GT with the help of a friend , DJ completed our NASA CineSpace contest short film.
As usual it was a fun filled journey. The short celebratory dinner brought to mind my attempts at creating some fog

My daughter mentioned hiking to me today. It hit a soft spot. We love hiking. All of a sudden i was hit by Tasmania withdrawal syndrome. Everywhere i looked something beautiful stared back at me. Kyo Sakamoto's "Ue o muite arukou" looping in the background adds to the "pain". While it is a sad song, i am filled with happy memories though there is a tinge of disappointment that i am not there now.

There are many reasons for visiting the zoo. One of mine is the smell of a zoo. It invigorates me!
Recently, the surrealness of captive living caught my attention.
What's on the other side like? I am sure they ask the same question of us.
In a way, we are all living in our own little zoo, caught in our own little repetitive routines like Inuka swimming in his confine pool except we have a bit more space to roam.

The unreal habitat of Inuka in tropical Singapore.
His repetitive swimming routine mimics our own. Maybe that is why we are so attracted to his performance. But he will be 26 soon, the last of his kind in our zoo. Go pay him a visit.

Choa Chu Kang Tao Bu Keng Temple celebrated the departure of the Nine Emperor Gods.

One of the first things i noticed at this temple were the intricate wood carvings on the walls. This was the setting for the departure of the Nine Emperor Gods. From cheering devotees to lion and dragon dances paving the way as the swaying sedans left the temple for Tuas beach. One last farewell party at the beach and the Nine Emperor Gods return to the stars.
