I know you are a amateur photographer so are we using what we have on hand in this case a pop up flash on camera. It looks like lighting from a beauty dish but a tell tale sign it's shot by an amature is the highlights on the forehead, tip of nose and cheeks. An application of powder to touch up the face to rid oil shine would have been nice.

Notice the catchlights are in the centre of the eyes because flash is on camera. The ideal location of catchlights is 10 O'clock and 2 O'clock or thereabouts which would mean flash is off camera.
Try using tissue paper over the flash or diffuser to soften the light giving a softer look.

Overall a nice photo if not for the hairs on the left arm which should be edited out. A careful inspection and tidying up before shooting would save you the trouble.
Keep it up. :)

Great information Thank you. Much to learn despite having zero professional aspirations.
