Hey guys ...

Anyone here is presently paying premiums for equipment coverage for their Camera and Accessories?

Am looknig for one that covers against theft-loss, damage blabla...

Notice that there are such available services in UK and America but am having problems locating one in Singapore..

Any Advice?

Thanks

For insuring while in singapore don't think have. But when travelling, should have.

are a insurance agent fren? i'm sure we all have 1 agent fren.....

Ask your insurance broker about the AXA SmartHome plan. The coverage is good for all your personal home contents, camera gear included. Additional benefits include coverage whilst traveling and is not just limited to your photo gear but other personal belongings like jewelery, watch etc...

In any insurance plan, please check the per item coverage. Some travel insurance only cover S$500 per item or less.

The plan I recommended covers the actual value of the property, up to a maximum plan coverage (starts from $15,000). It's quite flexible and great for camera equipment which usually costs more than $500 a piece.

How's the premium like? But does look good if you know you're travelling to a dangerous place

For $30,000 coverage, the premium is about $600 per year, payable monthly or annually.

Perhaps if you read the earlier posts you might find the answer to your question.

Home contents insurance ONLY cover loss of valuables while its inside the house. ie, due to burglary or fire. It does not cover the items once its taken out of the house. There is also a cap on the amount claimable (plan dependant) based on category. Cameras and accesories are under a single category (eg, Photographic equipment) and not valued individually. So if your plan states $1,000 or $500 cap per category of equipment, thats the max you can claim regardless of the total value.

However, you can proposed to have your equipment assessed individually and valued accordingly instead of blanket cover. This will not be cheap and it will still cover ONLY burglary or fire damage while inside your home.

Coverage while travelling is when you're away and your house is broken into or caught fire. Once your valuables leave your home, this policy will not cover...period.
