It is good, it will make singapore a lot better place.

yes. i think its in line wiht the 2 new casinos and yog. the garment finally knows how important this kind of stuff is;D

hopefully they dont keep asking the same questions, then got TYS in the market to pass this test. then it would have lost its purpose

There are foreign customer service personnel with excellent command of the English language, it is their accent that makes you go "huh?". :what:

:) still. i think tat kinda solves our ft english problem. at least when i say meesiam mai hiam they wont go telling me meesiam mai hum;D
mai hum my hum my humps ~~

Should make sure Singlish is factored in. :bsmilie:

They should learn Hokkien :bsmilie: (Don't flame, I am not Hokkien)

for foreign workers , it doesn't affect us.

my view : you can't judge a person skills just because his / her English sucks. please, most off the cooks don't speak good English. you go to a restaurant because of their foods or languages? What will happen to those chinese dim sum restaurants? "xin san, ooi yum cha mou"? mu yum? diu, lei yi dou zou muh ah?

the test is a small step.

customer service is about attitude, and not the language you speak.

It is both. I once ordered at Kallang Leisure Ctr, Dessert Stall (served by chinese worker).
I asked for red ruby dessert.
Instead of putting red ruby with coconut cream they put red ruby with gula melacca.
And they insist that it is always like that, @$!@#$@# hell! I eaten this kind of dessert for over 30 years and want to bluff me!
Worse still their manager is also cannot speak english properly, eventually give in and make me another bowl but the red ruby is halfed and I got no mood already.

Totally sucks and I am not going to buy from the dessert stall anymore! :thumbsd:

No I am not against them or prejudiced against them but I deserve to get what I paid for!
Part of the problem there is communication. They cannot communicate with the customer! :thumbsd:

这个测试没有必要,如果大家都讲国语.

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

国语 in our case is Bahasa Melayu leh :bsmilie:

Next I hope they can change the mindset of labeling service staff as 'low-class', 'uneducated people', 'job with no future' and the list goes on. I think the main reason is due to the mindset of people! Hence many turn down service jobs, not wanting to be classified in the bad way.
