Did anyone see the salary scale of engineers in the front page of "TODAY" (free newspaper)?
States that wages of ministers and civil servants are to go up.. but the shocking thing is that median wage for engineers is placed at $0.62 million as compared to a tyical minister at $1.20 million.

I reckon this should be annual salary and not based on entire lifetime.
Darn, I am way underpaid going by this statistics.

lately, they keep hyping about this engineering. guess they really lack engineers in that area. woah, but the salary for offshore engineering is really high.

I think it's just pacing way to increase ministries pay again :(
hee hee, increasing the president's pay was the beginning. and very very funny, they purposely take the top 8 earners, wonder how the figures will compare if they take the median of the whole profession.

edit: woah, wrong leh, they not "pacing". they are "rushing". take a look at the article's first para.

"TO KEEP pace:)bsmilie: pun) with the growing salaries of the private sector, the Government is revising the pay of its ministers and civil servants."

The $0.62 million is not the average for the engineers.

It represents the median income of the top earners in the engineering profession.

Offshore engineering pay is all the while good... but it does comes wit sacrifice... eg. the danger u faced and the long hours of working and coming home only once a few months kinda things...

Hiaz, nothing is good and cheap in this world....

yeah, you are right. They are referring to maybe directors in engineering firms:bsmilie:

Now, this is more realistic...
