Anyone here love wines?

I'm not a wine drinker, but find them interesting - all the different types, grapes, manufacturing processes, etc.

Anyone like ICE WINE in particular? Where do you buy them, price range?

the winery at paragon basement have a good selection. the people there are quite friendly and chatty too

heard from someone that the two wines are actually simillar in taste....

for ice wine, the reason why it is so sweet is because the freeze the grapes to raise the sugar levels before getting the juice out....for the other one, it is a mixture of grapes and such...

anyone care to share more??

Although they taste similar to some extent like caramel is similar to melted sweet chocolate; they are both sweet dessert sauce, the two types are totally different. Bortrytis is where the grape is infected with a mould that dries up the semillion graphs and concentrates the sugar and taste. Ice wine, OTOH, is where they leave the graphs when the cold snap comes in to freeze the grapes into forming ice around the graps where the water from the grapes are drawn out.

Both produce sickly sweet wines but good dessert wines must be complemented with a dry finish else it is just concentrated alcholic grape juice...

heard there in 1-2 yrs can get back 50-150% capital.
