Hi, I got myself a Canon 500D Kit 1 not too long ago and I'm now considering getting some new lens for more versatility. I am on a tight budget though.

I want to get the EF-S 55-250mm lens for wider zoom range. I just like to ask if the 500D Close-up Lens is a good alternative to go with this lens for macro photography. Any pros can give me some advice on the feasibility of this option? :)

Hi, you mean a close up adapeter / macro adapter on the 55-250 / other lenses?
From what I know, these close up will not perform as good as most dedicated / specific macro lenses. However, it is good for budget.

Search for Raynox in CS. IIRC, some CSer actually recommend it.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm talking about the 500D close up lens, http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-500D-Close-Up-Lens-Review.aspx

I know they do not offer as good quality as macro lenses, but I guess its somewhere to start with macro photography.
