EF 28-135mm IS vs SP 35-105 2.8

hi!

could anyone with exp. guide me along here?

i've got two lens with me now:

1) Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
2) Tamron SP 35-105 f/2.8

which one should i keep on as a walk-about lens for general purpose shooting? (street and the like)

any comments would be appreciated, thanks!

depends on your shooting style I guess. if you often find the view of 35mm too limiting (i.e. not wide enough), the 28-135mm will be more suitable for you. if you often find that it's hard to isolate your subjects using the 28-135 due to the smaller aperture, the 35-105mm f/2.8 might be more suitable.

but focussing wise, I think the 28-135 is faster and IS will come in handy.

28-135 IS USM of course.

Wider and more on the tele side. IS is a plus point too. And it's a Canon!

Depend on what you are doing, if you need fast shutter speed to freeze movement, no good having a IS lens that allows you to shoot in slower shutter speed. But if depth of field is more critical like landscape the Canon IS lens will allows you to hand hold at least 2 stop slower than you focal range.

heh, yes! IS is fantastic! =)

shot 200 over photos indoors yesterday without having to use a flash cos the event didn't allow for it, and got a good number of accpectable pics.
