Editor of Tiger Airways' inflight magazine fined for spitting at cop

IMHO, he should be given that 4 years of squatting in Changi.

Public service officers are representatives of the Singapore state, spitting at them is like spitting at Singapore, especially on authoritarian figures like the Police, which plainly shows the lack of respect for this country. Drunkenness is no excuse, if not anyone can go drink and do anything. He should be served with a mandatory jail term. DPP Norman Yew is right. I hope prosecution appeals for a stiffer sentence.

To be fair, just a couple of months ago a drunk Singaporean male in his 40s punched a taxi driver in the face after demanding to be let off along the expressway and even exposed his naked self and spat on a police officer when they tried to apprehend him.

He was jailed a month.

A clown who cannot hold his alcohol drink.
Send him back to UK for more training at the pubs; and don't come back until 50 years later.

Don't overblown the situation...

* He is drunk...
* He didn't try hitting the police officer... but only challenged the Police to arrest him.
* His Lawyer in mitigation plea, said his client was "extremely remorseful, unconditionally apologetic and thoroughly ashamed for his conduct".

Lets not forget...

* He may NOT have any Police Record...
* He could well have been a good member of society before this incident...


I strongly believe that 'Lady Justice' MUST ALWAYS be 'blind'... that Law must be given equally to both Man and Women... Foreign or Local born... whatever your Religion or Race... therefore, to say that he should be Jailed for 4 years, just to show that 'We Are Tough With Foreigner', without knowing the full reason or what when on during the Court case... is truely unfair.

Btw.... $10K is not a small sum... even for an foreign Expet...

Instead of informing ClubSnap people about the news as it is, what's the point/goal/motivation of "translating" the title into "Foreign Talent Editor.." ?

Why waste tax payer money to keep and feed him in jail? Fine him $10k and send him packing back home! Let him try that back in his own country.

His offense is on an uniformed police. $10k is fair and cheap already. Luckily he did not punch otherwise should add 2 stroke of our local favor 'rotan'.

He could well have been a good member of society before this incident, OR he could very well be an total ____ and time had finally caught up with him.

We never knew. What we know now is he spat at cops, get arrested, proven guilty and sentenced to a fine.

FT, some talent, some trash. This one is another one of those trash maybe. Most are talents I believe.

Fact is, its hard to deny FT resentment sentiments in Singapore in the current state of policy. Some suggestions on what the real talents can do to improve this situation, is perhaps to show locals that they are here to make money yes, but they will also contribute to the land and this society instead of acting to the detriment of it, for instance, serve 2 years of national service and 10 years of reservist, volunteer at local charities, take part in community activities, mingle into local groups instead of just with one's own national or racial groups.
