Beside Live LCD Preview on E330, don't see much different between this 2 cameras.

Planning to get either E330 or E500 but find that it is not worth to pay so much more just for the Live LCD Preview for E330.

Is it wiser to get E500 + ZUIKO 11-22mm F2.8-3.5?

Care to share your opinions?

I'm on the same dilema can anyone give some insight on this.

Hi,
I have the E-330 and the E-500, just to share some knowledge. E-330 apart from LV with Variangle LCD, it also has Live view boost to assist in night framing. Also the sensor in e-330 named "Nmos" plays a very big part in noise reduction, "Nmos" is highly night sensitive, with low noise. characteristic is very similar to FFT CCD which exist in E-500. In summary the Nmos is a improvement over Cmos and CCD, it takes the best out of this two sensors. E-330 will be able to use Dual flash(Internal & External) giving you a better cooverage in flash photography. Alsothe Macro LV at a manification at 10x allow users the frame their subject with precision. But if you wanna go for simple and light weight. then go for the E-500.
My main camera to fullfill are my tasks will be E-330 at this point of time. E-500 is my backup camera. Once you have tried LV at variangle, you will be addicted to explore other angles of shooting....it adds tonnes of creativity to my photo......not to mention that the LCD coverage is 100% !!!!!

Anyone know which shops sell E500 (Body Only)?

Yup, Andy's a nice fella. I'll normally go look for him if I'm in his section of CP.

I find the E-500 a better choice in terms of picture quality.

Is Olympus Zuiko Digital 11-22mm F2.8-3.5 the best wide angle zoom lense so far compared to the following?

1) Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5
2) Minolta AF DT 11-18mm F4.5-5.6 (D)
3) 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor
4) smc PENTAX-DA 12mm-24mm F4 ED AL [IF]
5) Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM
6) Tamron SP AF11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF)

Don't seem to see the rest can produce F2.8-3.5 on their wide angle zoom lense.

Yes and maybe comparable to the Canon, but the ZD 7-14mm beats everything out there hands down!

I discovered the Olympus does not produce any 70-300mm or 100-300mm telephoto zoom lens. Not even any 3rd party (Sigma or Tamron) produce for Olympus 4/3 mount! Is that the biggest setback?

olympus has the cheap one 40-150mm, effective focal lenght of 80-300mm.

and as welll medium grade 50-200mm that equivalent to 100-400mm.

Hi Tom Cat,

Thanks for the info. OK confirm I will be getting Olympus E-500 with Zuiko 11-22mm f/2.8-3.5 first, follow by Sigma APO 50-500mm F4-6.3. :cheergal:

Any idea when is Sigma APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 available?

Sigma APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 order at CP...2 week lead time...about S$1800++ (heard from friend not sure)

Hi... I am a newbie of DSLR. I have recently invested in a E330. Reason y I choose that over 500 is mainly because of LV. I bought this camera mainly to capture my gorgeous American Curl Cat. They are fast and lively and most time need the flexibility to take shots in all angles, and LV just serve this purpose well.... becos of LV, my wife is able to take pictures like any other digital camera. So I find the price difference is justifyable.

Hey all,

I read in dpreviews etc etc abt a "darker" viewfinder... thus hard to frame shots...

Any verification/comments on that?

Regards,
Eric

Yes, it is slightly darker for the E-330. Since the Viewfinder have to share the image with the LiveMos. But that is not a problem when you have the LCD to frame the shot.

When it is too dark to view thru the eyecup, there is always the LCD boost to frame the shot. When it is too bright for the LCD, there is always the eyecup. Best of both worlds.
