According to DP review, the E-500 has been hotmirrored, meaning that it can be used for IR photography. Anyone can verify this statement as I haven't got my hands on a set yet and when i first saw it at a launch and cycled through the menu, I couldn't find anything pointing to the IR mode or function. Anyone has any thoughts on this?

Typically, a hotmirror is a filter that filters OUT IR wavelengths.

IR is detrimental to normal photography and may give rise to undesirable color casts. Since the E500 is a camera meant for general photography it is far more likely that they increased the strength of the hotmirror filter such that it may no longer be pass any significant amount of IR making it absolutely useless for IR photography.
