I put my Tokina 11-16mm/f2.8 on the D600, and got a dark circular frame around the image. Is that normal? I'd thought it would switch to DX mode automatically. It was on auto setting. Something wrong with my D600? Can anyone help?

i assume u get the ring(vignetting if i'm not wrong) at the widest focal length 11mm....try movin out towards 16mm to c if it helps.
i would say it's normal for dx lense on Fx body

my guess is that the Auto DX switch only works with Nikon Lenses, it would have something to do with the lens identifying itself to the camera.

tks, guys for responding. i'll try a nikon DX lens, and see if the auto DX switch works only with Nikon lenses. tks!

i dun hv my cam, but try to c if u can force it to DX instead of auto

No need to try. Only Nikon DX lenses will trigger the auto DX crop on Nikon FX bodies. I usually turn this off.

Tokina 11-16 can still be used on a Full frame sensor at 16mm.
