I have been thinking of getting either an Sigma EF-500 DG Super or Sunpak PZ5000AF as an alternative to the much more expensive Canon Speedlite 550EX. As the saying goes "you get what you paid for" I wonder how would these third party flash fare in term of durability.

I'd appreciate if you guys can tell me how long have you had the the flash and how is it working on you. Also the customer service experience of you had any.

Thanks in advance. :)

Any others care to share their experience? :)

I have used a sunpak for 15 years. Never did it break down. I have stopped using it only because I have changed systems, and this was a dedicated flash.

If you do not use it heavily as pros do, it would last.

Just now went to CP and taken a look at Sunpak PZ5000AF and quite like it, but the CP guys says that it is "not so compatible" with dSLR, is that true? High triggerTvolatage? Too bad if it is true.
