Do a search on clubsnap for "calibrate". You'll find out it's usually when a lens has focusing issues on a DSLR body. However, it's the lens that can get calibrated. If all lenses attached to the body have focusing issues, then the body needs to have an AF focal plane adjustment.
when you try to auto-focus on a subject and it comes out mis-focused.
But you do need to eliminate other possible causes of mis-focusing as well. Things like movement of either camera or subject during the 'focus test', shift in focus plane from the common 'focus-recompose' technique, and so on.
