How many days have you purchased the box?
have you checked:
Is the hygrometer analogue or digital?
Is the dehumidifier LED on?
all doors are closed properly, no camera straps in the way.
There's a knob adjusting the level of 'dryness' for the dehumidifier. have you adjusted it before?
Low to high?
is your's the self-powered type or slica gel?
1. The hygrometer may be faulty.
2. otherwise, a simple explanation might be that the silica gel isn't enough to take out the moisture in the box.
I'm assuming the normal humidity of a room (without airconditioning) ranges from 85 - 90%.
I use to have a drying box. actually, you can't really control the humidity. you just put in as much silica gel, and hope for the best!
I would suggest you buy a BIG bottle of silica gel: $43.500 to $4.50 per bottle.
fill up transparent film canisters, or a tiny ziploc bag.
place it in the dehumidifier.
i usually check to see if it changes rapidly to pink (too wet).
it it turns blue slowly (over a few days), or stays blue. then it's quite alright for filters and cameras.
check for leaks in the drybox....
good luck.
Hi aaron, i just got my dry box today. its those with a silica gel pack in it. In the beginning it shows 70 and after opening it to fill in my eq, it somehow went close to 80. later on it will drop to about < 60. Trick is --> OPEN UP THE SILICA GEL PACK PLASTIC COVER. hehe hope it helps.
I've got a dry box also but I find the silica pack that come with it quite useless. I poured in a bottle of silica gel I bought separately and immediately the next morning, I find the hydrometer dropped from 70 to 40. Guess what, I've changed the silica gel i separately poured in twice since, because they turned pink but the original silica pack that came with the box is still dark blue. I guess they are useless at absorbing moisture. Hope this helps.
Hi,
I used the silica gel which came along with the box.
I place it on the floor of an air-conditioned room. Anyway, I'm wondering. For dry cases, how do people get the humidity they want?
all right. Thanks all, I will try out the suggestions. Any idea how much will the dehumidifier cause? the electrical type.
