1. In what area is critique to be sought?
I’ve been shooting with film SLR for many years. I have just started my journey into DSLR and I hope to improve my skills. Would very much appreciate to hear comments on the composition and lighting of this shot. Is this shot good? If not, in what areas can I improve?

2. What one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
The subject of this shot is the dragonfly and the lotus in focus. The lotus flower in the background add some color to this shot and make the picture looks more interesting.

3. Under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
This shot was taken in the morning with soft sun light.

4. What the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
This is probably my favorite photo of the day.

"...Canon 500D | 250mm | F15.6 | 1/30 | ISO 200..."

did you mean f5.6 ?

We've seen literally thousands of this dragonfly/lotus theme but this version is refreshing from its perspective .... good idea with the bokeh'ed lotus flower

Thanks. You are right. I would like to correct the typo here. The F stop should be F5.6

Thanks Morning0508. The dragonfly is indeed too small but I have limited lenses available and I can't get the dragonfly to post for my photoshoot. :)

i tink the right side is too bright, therefore too distracting.

maybe can look better if crop off.

overall, a nice pic.
