As per title, does it matter? If the camera is defected is the second owner permitted to send it for servicing?
If u have proof of purchase, generally doesn't matter if the 2nd owner
How to do check proof of purchase? DO I call nikon to authenticate serial no ? or do I check whether serial no tallies with body and receipt?
Sorry newbie here :/
If the previous owner provides the original receipt with the serial number of the camera, you will know whether warranty has expired or not.
nikon wont be able to tell you when is the purchase date. They only have the date that this particular camera is delivered to the shop
you won't know if you don't have the receipt. How will I know the warranty has expired? o.o

ask the seller for the original or a copy. I don't recall Nikon having any sort of warranty registration requirement so I doubt u can call Nikon to verify anything. Not all receipts have serial numbers but the serial number on the Nikon warranty card should match what's on the camera body. How to do check proof of purchase?
