Does auto settings detect mount-on flash?

just wondering, if i were to mount a external flash on...say ss-80dx
will the auto-settings detect the flash and adjust the settings according?

Check your camera manual. I'm sure it's written there, that's basics. But first thing: make sure the external flash is switched on
