Hi CS members, Does all Sigma lens fits both cropped and full frame? cause was wondering if sigma lens is like cannon EF and EF-S series where by EF-S only fits Cropped sensor... if sigma does have different lens for both what is the abbriveation they use to differentiate the 2 diff type?

ooo thankz for the info ^.^....

Sigma : DG --> for both FF and crop
Tamron : Di ---> is it? Di II is for crop

Please read the information given at the manufacturer's website. Also, note that Sigma offers lenses for other camera systems as well. So the main information you will see is "Canon mount". Sigma won't use the Canon-specific terms of EF or EF-S.

Since you can log in to CS, believe you have internet connection to go to Sigma and Tamron website as well. All informations pertaining to your question are there.

Actually, to answer TS' original question, cropped/APS-C designed lenses made by Sigma (DC) and Tamron (Di-II) will 'fit' onto Canon DSLRs whether cropped (duh) or full-frame WITH the exception of getting severe, non-usable, vignetting when mounted on the full-frame.

Neverthess, despite its popularity (fitting DC/DI-II into FF), unless you own both APS-C and FF DSLRs, I don't see how buying DC/DI-II will benefit any user owning just FF cam.

In other words, for Sigma lens:-

DC for only cropped sensors
DG for both FF and cropped sensors

:)

Designation for lenses meant for Cropped Sensors
Canon - EF-S
Nikon - DX
Sigma - DC
Tamron - Di II

You can fit these lenses onto full-frame cameras too, since the mount is the same. The problem is the vignetting.

you cannot fit crop lenses onto canon full frame cameras.

Only EF-S you can't physically mount, the rest is possible but with alot of vignetting..

How about 1.3x crop factor for some of the Canon bodies? Can use the Sigma "DC" lenses without vignetting?

Seems like I forgot about Canon EF and EF-S mounts... hah.. Apologies for that.
