Do you use Spot or Matrix metering when using a grey card?

Sorry if this is ask before, do you use spot metering when you use gray card to assist metering, cos I see no point in using matrix metering with gray crd.

No different. For grey card, you need to fill the view finder with the grey card.

If can use spot, use spot is better.

Yiu should have same exposure for 2 method.
 

shld use spot or partial, not a nikon user but if use matrix, make sure the grey card fills the entire view finder (but make sure you are not so close that you cast a shadow on it!)..also not sure what kind of algorithim nikon uses for its matrix...maybe you can compare the matrix reading and the spot treading and let us know!

JUST FYI, every cam has a "Matrix metering" mode just that they call it with a different name, Canon call it "Evaluative metering", Olympus call it "ESP metering"... etc.
