I was playing some rock songs on my tungsten and my colleague complaint very noisy( it was very soft already , was like 3/15).

Which genre of rock?

In my dictionary, rock and roll is elvis, beatles era.

Irritating bands like Busted, Crazy Town, Saliva etc.

Ans : Yes i hate them.

Better bands like Nightwish, Nevermore, Blindside, Dream Theater etc.

Ans : No i dun hate them.

Subjective lah.

Some ppl who likes pop songs might like a few rock songs and vice versa.

Playback devices have an important role to play in playing music. If you try to play music on the built-in speaker of devices such as PDAs, or low quality speakers, even if it's played soft, it will come across as noisy/irritating. This is because a lot of frequencies are lost through the playback process, and that the Signal-to-Noise ratio of these output devices aren't fantastic to begin with. The music then sounds like it's being played through a tinny transistor radio with a severe lack of fidelity - almost like playing severely compressed, 8-bit, 11kHz mono audio - giving the perception of being 'noisy'.

I am no fan of rock, but such music is meant to be played LOUD, and on a good hifi with full range speakers if possible. :)

Regards
CK

You got hell lot to define what is rock and what is rock and roll.

rock and roll

In its purest form, Rock & Roll has three chords, a strong, insistent back beat, and a catchy melody. Early rock & roll drew from a variety of sources, primarily blues, R&B, and country, but also gospel, traditional pop, jazz, and folk. All of these influences combined in a simple, blues-based song structure that was fast, danceable, and catchy. The first wave of rock & rollers — Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Bill Haley, Gene Vincent, the Everly Brothers, and Carl Perkins, among many others — set the template for rock & roll that was followed over the next four decades. During each decade, a number of artists replicated the sound of the first rockers, while some expanded that definition and others completely exploded the constrictions of the genre. From the British Invasion, folk-rock, psychedelia, and through hard rock, heavy metal, glam rock, and punk, most subgenres of rock & roll initially demonstrated an allegiance to the basic structure of rock & roll. Once these permutations emerged, traditional rock & roll faded away from the pop charts, yet there were always artists that kept the flame alive. Some, like the Rolling Stones and the Faces, adhered to the basic rules of traditional rock & roll but played the music fast and loose. Others, like proto-punk rockers the Velvet Underground, the New York Dolls, and the Stooges, kept the basic song structure, but played it with more menace. Still others, like Dave Edmunds and Graham Parker, became rock & roll traditionalists, writing and recording music that never wavered from the sound of the late '50s and early '60s. Although the term "rock & roll" came to refer to a number of different music styles in the decades following its inception, the essential form of the music never changed.

I only knew the rock and roll which originated during the 50s to 60s and thats the exact info which i've gotten from www.allmusic.com.

The bands that i've posted aint rock and roll, but its a statement towards ninelive's posting of "rock songs".

Please teach me more instead of posting one sentence or 1 word answers.

Appreciate it.
Thanks. ;)

Its not your defination, its your mindset. While I do agree with you that to each his own taste, its just sad that rock and roll to you is represented by a few 'irritating' bands.

Don't really blame you though, afterall the current generation has been greatly poisoned by the slew of modern 'rock'.

Thats where you're seriously misinformed pal.
The other genre's are classified under rock and roll, but THEY ARE NOT ROCK AND ROLL.

If they are, why the trouble?

Might as well classify all rock music as rock and roll, be it metal, punk or alternative.

The article said that "folk-rock, psychedelia, and through hard rock, heavy metal, glam rock, and punk, most subgenres of rock & roll initially demonstrated an allegiance to the basic structure of rock & roll." but it never say that they are ROCK AND ROLL?

They're just a diversity towards the ever vast genre of rock music.

In that case, why there's house, trance, etc?
Might as well say they're all techno?

Dude, seriously not that i doubt you, but i find that you tend to blabber off significantly without substantial proof.
