I intend to buy a small consumer digicam for office work, and I'll need to download photos to my office laptop. However, I am not allowed to install any software or drivers on the laptop. What are the cameras that will allow me to download photos without the need for installing anything? Also, the laptop is running Win2k.

If you are running Windows Win2k or XP, you do not need to install anything, just plug and play and you can use the windows explorer to browse and copy files from the camera.....But you need to make sure your office did not block out the USB port as well, my office does

If you are using Macintosh OSX, you also don't need to install anything.
you might want to ask the it dept if you can use a card reader instead and have them buy it and the install drivers. (if needed)

Depends. In some cameras you have to switch the setting somewhere in the menu to "PTP".

use a card reader and save the hassle.

Yup buy a card reader, problem solved. You can get one for around $15 - $20.
