YES!! This topic is about DIY Drycabinet.

So, technically it is possible to put a piece of electronic humidity monitor that will adjust humidity by turning the lamp on and off.
This object is the mysterious one that is inside the digi-cabi or dry cabinet or aipo cabinets, which I am unable to find anyone dismantling to show us what it actually consist of.

So basically, if we take that out and install it into another air tight box.
It should work!

Buying 100l 300l 900l Dry cabinets won't be a problem anymore by doing this.
But is there a way to overcome this?

My guess
Humidity Sensor Module
DHT11 Temperature & Humidity Sensor Module - £4.50 : nuelectronics.com, Arduino Freeduino projects

Using a humidity sensor module connected to a micro processor(Arduino board) with a diy circuit board that is connected to a multitude of led/florescent light which also has the ability to switch on power(from external power source) to light up the led or florescent until the target humidity is reached.

Would anyone skilled in electronic engineering care to shed some light whether this could be the next money fishing project?

its a sensor that essentially turns the peltier unit ON or OFF depending on measured RH levels within the envronment

u still need the peltier unit or some other gizmo (eg a bare old fashioned light bulb or even a tiny hair-dryer) to do the drying of the air

sure ..... this can turn into a pretty interesting DIY project with an Ikea or Furniture Mall cabinet

Dry Cabinets so far have not exactly been a fashion statement or even as a piece of furniture, ..... so go for it !

just youtube around for 'DIY wine cabinets' for a clue

The last thing I DIY with blings was my PC casing. Dry Cabinet... Maybe can add a MP3 player with disco LED lights that blings with the music? Or play some alert music when RH gets too high? Sorry just brainstorm and crapping out ideas.

Then everytime you open the cabinet.. music will play liao.

Just 1 question... the peltier unit inside condense the water inside the cabinet.
Then the water just stay there somewhere inside the black box?

Wouldn't it be bad if the water vapor condense on the lens?

.... then your humidity sensor will detect and kick in the drying device be it a peltier or light bulb or hairdryer etc etc etc

manufacturers have designed the modern dry box taking your concern into consideration already

This is what one manufacturer is willing to show and tell:

Can you get shape memory alloy material and desicant?

You need to scale up whatever materials for the small one because of nature's law of physics.

As you can see from the link no light bulb or LED is needed as that would waste energy from the light output.
Only dryer needed ( with fan suction?)as desicant is dried and reused. You will be operating unit 24/7.

As in all projects, the devil is in the details like opening and closing valves or doors.Of course that should not stop you from making the better proverbial mouse trap. But don't discuss here as you may want to commercialise and
patent it. :) But seriously you need to understand how to interface sensors to microcontrollers like audino.
Use the peripherals in them like I/O (input/output pins),A/D convertors, timers.Understand the instruction sets or
commands and their time of instuction cycles and synchonise to sensor signals.Knowing how to write software/firmware using their development and debugging software and lastly creating the barebones circuit and
testing it if it works to your requirements.Have fun.

Ok, thanks for the explaination :D

Can try using a dehumidifier rod though, search dri rod or dehumidifier rod.
It does not seem to require any mechanism to expel moisture condensed.

No idea how it words, but it seems to just work for guns.

Thanks for the dry rod info.

I think this project is not worth working on unless you intend to buy a HUGE capacity drying cabinet, it can incur costs up to 500$.
1 dry rod cost 50$ and the arduino parts and power controller will cost another 100$ min and 150 max.

Another things is, it takes a digi-cabi or aipo cabinet up to 8 hours to get from 73% to 38% humidity.
Because it is using the dessicant method to expel moisture.
If you are concerned, you can use the dry rod or dri-rod method to control the humidity.

You should be able to hasten reducing of the humidity by placing multiple dryrods.
However you will have to take note of the temperature.
But ensure that the controller will cut off power to the rods when a maximum temperature or target humidity is reached.

*You might want to install a smoke detector..
