trying to do the above. have been trying to do it for years. what's the best way? I have been trying to scan then, coming up with 18mb files, and saving in TIFFs. What's the good format to save in? I only scan a few albums and its already Gigs.

TIFs are good as it is a well established format and is lossless...to save space, can losslessly compress it as well...:)

lwz, but its still a tiring process. a roll of old 24 pics take up 700mb, and it basically hangs my pc to open the folder. How do you guys manage these stuff?

Do you open it with the display thumbnails option on? If you do, change it to something else as that takes quite a bit of computing power...:)
