Just wondering, has anyone in the field tried to take a same scene with a normal consumer film, a 8 mega pixels DSLR, slide film, then print it from the same shop at 4R and 8R, then compare to see the difference?

Interesting???? :dunno:

Anyway, something to share....heres the link to Photographers in National Geographic ..

There are consumer negative and slide, professional negative and slide. Also different ISO speed and film have different characteristic, so quite hard to judge meaningfully. I would say it is comparable (can be compared to each other) in terms of resolution wise, but not in other ways. Anyway, 4R and 8R are really too small to compare resolution IMO for film or 8MP DSLR. Both 8MP and film (good quality ones) can easily print to 10R or 12R.
