Hi Hi! Are there any kind souls who could put me n the right track in buying a new digital compact camera? I am a DSLR user but looking for a PnS for casual usage cos when travelling my mates complain that i hardly take any candid shots of them with my DSLR haha.
There are many new models n would like to start exploring a few so hope u folks could 'introduce' a few models which I could start with....soon.

Criteria- prefably wider than the usual 36mm
not more than S$ 700
8 MP shd suffice
No need super tele zooming if there's a wide lens like 28mm
Not important to have RAW capture
prefably higher ISO ( 400 -500 ) usable for 8 R n below printing.
must be light n not too bulky unless like Nikon P5100

Thanx for reading n wil be very grateful for any input-I' dont have a desk bound job so reply wld not be prompt.
Thanx again n have a nice day!:D

Canon G9
Canon IXUS 860
Ricoh R7
Ricoh GX-100

Hey thanx so much!
Will go n try those out soon
Cheers

i would actually suggest the IXUS 850 IS as your PnS. I'm using an EOS 400D but carry around my IXUS as well for casual shooting. Personally, I prefer the 850 to 860 because it has a viewfinder which comes in useful in really bright lit environments. the 860 has slightly higher megapixels and a bigger screen though. if u can do without the viewfinder, go for the 860 then. fulfills your criteria.

if you have asked this question a few months back, i would have recommended Fujifilm F31fd.
Best PNS cam in its range for high iso = low noise and also nice colours.

get a IXUS or Lumix or fuji f40

for me, i got a powershot becos i need a camera that is powered by AA batteries due to outdoor travelling.

Personally, I tink maybe you can try out Fuji's F31fd. Or maybe Fuji's range with superccd.

Cause you have been using DSLR which has a large sensor for low noise and if you are quite particular about image, the image quality on the superccd is better.
This lessens the transition from a DSLR to a compact, and maybe u might even like the compact cam more than your DSLR.
