Current:

D80 on batt grip
SB600
SB800
Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8
Sigma 30mm f1.4
Nikkor 50mm

Soon to add:

70-200mm f2.8
D300 with batt grip
Maybe SB900.

You think possible to squeeze all in?

Or need to get a 50 litres cabinet?

Thanx.

Up to you.... are you adding anymore gears.... soon/later/never....

I'm using a 60L unit, already thinking of getting a smaller 30L unit just to hold my Camera bodies

Don't waste money, min 70l if you don't want your gears to be stuff like a full pack.

Hmm...
I think 50L is enough.

1 x 40D without grip (compared to your D80 with grip)
1 x hard disk
1 x 580EXII (Similar to you SB900??)
& Misc acessories
Note: The above takes the top tray without foam and has spare space

1 x 70 - 200 f4 IS (about same size as 70 - 200 f2.8)
1 x 18 - 250
1 x 17 - 40 (smiliar to your Nikkor 17 - 55 f2.8)
1 x 100mm Macro
1 x Sigma 30mm (Same as you)
Note: The above takes on the middle tray (with the foam). Can most prob put one/ two more lens ba

The Lowest tray is left empty.... but due to the height of the last tray, quite inconvenient to put things.

All the above in my 50L Dry Cabi still got spare~

No space at home. Thats the problem!
How about this....

Get yourself a larger unit 1st (45-60L)..... then when you have more gears, get a smaller one (30L) and stqack the smaller unti on top of the bigger unit. I've been planning to do that for some times now.... but after selling off some of my old lense, now just have enough space.

Kinda agree with diver-hloc.... Get minimum a 50L. Since you are the "fierce" type, meaning chiong alot of gear one then no point getting a small dricabi which would be restrictive after some time.

All great ideas here people.

Thanx much and I appreciate your advices and ideas!

I am using the 30L currently. I think I will change to 50L, then chuck the 30L into the storeroom. When I got more space, I will bring out the 30L.

I asked this thread some time ago about how much I can keep in my 30litre dry cabinet.

Now inside got:

D300 with MB-D10 battery grip
D80 with MB-D80 battery grip
Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 zoom lens
Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8 zoom lens
Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 zoom lens
Nikkor 50mm f1.8 prime lens
Nikkor 60mm f2.8 Micro lens
SB600
SB800
16 AA batts in their boxes
Cigarette box sized stack of CF and SD cards
Battery charger with cable
Extra filters

I think still can squeeze in another flash or prime lens. :sweatsm:

Hi, A small cabinet, 20litres wirks better than bigger cabinet, 30litres. The meter reading
for the smaller cabinet shows between 35-50 compared with the bigger which shows between 40-50 most of the time such that I prefer to buy two small cabinets than one big one. Both use the same meter.

High temperatures causes batteries to leak. Many manufacturer advise against storing batters in high humidity places. Long idle time cause them to discharge. So why would putting them in dry cabinet make them spoilt or leak?

Your logic seems a bit off. Too low RH and the mechanical parts will dry up. Large cabinets can reach the recommended range but will take longer. (i.e. they still work as advertised or no one would buy them) Saying you want two smaller ones so that they take less time to reach RH or maintain RH makes more sense.

I think thats what he meant, which sounds like good suggestion too.

Is 35 too low? Mine is frequently in the 30 to 35 range.

I don't think 30L will be enough, better go for 50L dry-box.

For me:
1. E-510
2. 14-42mm lens
3. 40-150mm lens
4. 70-300mm lens
5. OM 28mm lens
6. OM 50mm lens
7. FL-36
8. 0.5x tele-converter
9. Ext. flash soft-box diffuser

With all these, my dry cabinet is quite packed already.
